Labour will bring banking back to the High Street with 350 Banking Hubs
Labour will bring face-to-face banking back to the High Street with 350 ‘banking hubs’ to beopened in towns and villages across Britain over the next five years.
Labour will also support high streets shops and small businesses by tackling anti-social
behaviour and shoplifting, replacing business rates with a new, fairer system and introducing new laws to stamp out late payments for small businesses.
Labour will give communities a strong new ‘right to buy’ beloved community assets to revamp high streets and end the blight of empty premises.
Elizabeth McWilliams, Labour’s candidate for Ely and East Cambridgeshire said:
“Our local High Streets in places like Waterbeach, Cottenham, Littleport, Ely and Soham
desperately need support and investment.
“After austerity, covid and now the cost of living crisis - the cost of running a local shop and business is eye watering.
“Labour is the party on the side of small businesses. With our plan to bring banking back to the high street, replace business rates and cut energy bills for good, we will breathe new life back into Britain’s high streets.”
