This election is last chance to stop the rot and save NHS dentistry
in East Cambridgeshire.
For people across Ely and East Cambridgeshire, it has become virtually impossible to register with an NHS dentist and get an appointment. The situation has become so bad that people have resorted to pulling their own teeth out at home.
Labour’s Dentistry Rescue Plan will provide 700,000 extra dentistry appointments and will be funded by closing tax loopholes for "non-doms" (UK residents whose permanent home - for tax purposes - is registered outside the UK).
Elizabeth McWilliams, Labour's candidate for Ely and East Cambridgeshire said:
“DIY dentistry should be the stuff of Charles Dickens’ books, not Britain in 2024.
“The Conservatives have taken NHS dentistry to death’s door. We already pay taxes for the NHS, but the Conservatives want to charge families an extra £240 a year.
“Labour’s Dentistry Rescue Plan will provide 700,000 extra dentistry appointments straight away and start rebuilding NHS dentistry for the future.
“We’ll pay for this by closing loopholes in the Government’s regime for taxing non-doms and cracking down on tax avoidance – we need dentists not dodgers.”
